Privacy policy
The short version: your photo is analysed on your device and never uploaded.
Last updated October 27, 2026
This policy explains what information Undertone Finder (undertonefinder.com) handles when you use the website, and what we do with it. We built the tool so that it needs as little of your data as possible.
Your photos never leave your device
When you upload a photo or use your camera, the image is decoded and analysed entirely inside your web browser. It is never sent to our servers or to any third party, and we never store it. Closing or refreshing the page removes it from memory.
Camera video is used only to show the live preview and take your photo. It is not recorded or transmitted. Your browser asks for camera permission first, and you can withdraw it at any time in your browser settings.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect, upload or store your photos or camera video.
- There are no accounts, so we do not ask for your name, email address or password.
- We do not use advertising cookies or sell personal information.
What is saved in your browser
To let you compare readings, the site saves a short list of numeric results (undertone, depth, skin colour code, confidence and time) in your browser’s local storage. It also remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. This data stays on your device and is never sent to us. You can remove it at any time with the "Clear history" button or by clearing your browser’s site data.
Files your browser downloads
To find your face automatically, your browser downloads an open-source face-landmark model (Google MediaPipe) and its runtime from public content delivery networks (cdn.jsdelivr.net and storage.googleapis.com) the first time you use auto-detection. These are ordinary file downloads, and no image data is sent with them. Like any web request, these providers can see your IP address and browser details, as described in their own privacy policies.
Server and hosting logs
Like almost every website, our hosting provider may automatically record standard technical information when pages are requested, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is used only to keep the site secure and working, and is kept for a limited time.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site, which pages they view and roughly where they come from. Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) in your browser and collects information like your browser type, device, approximate location and the pages you visit. Google processes this data as described in its privacy policy.
Google Analytics never receives your photos, camera video or undertone results. Those stay on your device, as described above.
You can block these cookies in your browser settings or install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
If you email us
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply to you and do not add you to any mailing list. Please do not send photos of yourself unless you want us to see them.
Children
Undertone Finder is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Because we do not store your photos or results, there is usually nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Data saved in your browser is under your control. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, ask us and we will remove it.
Not medical advice
Undertone Finder gives colour and styling guidance for inspiration. It is not a medical or dermatological tool. Please speak to a professional about any skin concerns.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
